Laing O’Rourke has posted a video demonstrating how it installed three so-called “mega risers” at the 10-year Manchester Airport transformation programme works.
In May this year, the contractor installed the first of three giant design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) risers on the site, nine months into the programme.
Manufactured offsite at Crown House Technologies Manufacturing facility in Oldbury in the West Midlands, the mega risers are made up of 48 multi-service risers containing ventilation, ductwork, water piping, electrical containment and heating services.
