McLaren Construction has received Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) for the second £229m phase of the Ebury Bridge Estate regeneration scheme in central London.
Ebury Bridge in Knightsbridge and Belgravia is a redevelopment of the existing 1930s estate for client Westminster City Council. The second phase will deliver 334 new homes and the wider project includes a series of interlinked public squares, a new retail parade and communal facilities.
Bouygues carried out the £100m first phase on the scheme, which is close to the upmarket residential Chelsea Barracks scheme built by Mace and Multiplex for Qatari Diar.
McLaren will use modern methods of construction for the scheme, prefabricating facade elements offsite to reduce vehicle movements and lower the development’s carbon footprint.
McLaren Construction managing director for regeneration, Paul Woodhams, said: “This is a complex project with five buildings which required four separate building safety applications and approvals; the team has done a fantastic job in securing a successful outcome.”
