Texas-based data centre developer Corscale has signed McLaren Construction and Phoenix ME onto a pre-construction services agreement for a 140MW data centre at Court Lane in Iver, Buckinghamshire.
The 14-acre site is north of Heathrow Airport and next to the M25 motorway.
Designed by Gensler, the campus will have two buildings and what Corscale called an “architecturally unique” 140MVA substation. The design tries to fit in with a nearby Grade 2-listed farmhouse.
Joining McLaren and Phoenix ME are Cundalls for MEP design and L&P Group for engineering support.
Corscale’s practical completion date is late 2029.
The site is now an industrial estate with a mix of heavy industrial, garages, metal recycling, waste transfer stations, concrete and aggregate mixing and storage, large vehicle storage and tyre distribution.
Starting on 1 July, predevelopment works include site clearance and enabling works. A priority is moving two 36-inch water mains used by London utility Affinity Water.
“As data centres become larger, more powerful and more complex, we become all the more reliant on the latest construction technology to achieve the project management and precision that this design requires,” said David McDonnell, McLaren’s managing director for data centres.
