Kwasi Kwarteng has been appointed as construction minister, after his predecessor in the role Nadhim Zahawi was handed the role of overseeing the distribution of covid-19 vaccines.
Kwarteng is already minister of state at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and construction has been added to his ministerial portfolio, as Zahawi’s responsibilities are redistributed.
He was elected Conservative MP for Spelthorne in 2020 and has served on various parliamentary committees, including the Transport Select Committee from 2010 until 2013, the Work and Pensions Select Committee from 2013 until 2015, and the Public Accounts Committee from October 2016 to May 2017.
