Galliford Try launches plan to become net zero by 2045

The contractor also wants to optimise employee business travel by developing a ‘group green travel plan’ during the 2024/25 financial year, and purchase 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by the end of 2025.

Scope 1, 2, and 3 are categories used to classify greenhouse gas emissions based on how directly they relate to the activities of a business and how much control it has over them.

Whereas scope 1 are direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by a company, scope 2 includes indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy.

Scope 3 includes the emissions a company is indirectly responsible for throughout its value chain, where most emissions come from in a business.
