Bouygues UK has enhanced its paternity leave policy, allowing new fathers to take up to eight weeks of paternity leave on full pay.

Currently, the law for UK companies allows two weeks of statutory paternity leave and pay.

One of the biggest discrepancies in the gender equality gap is parenthood, with women still often automatically assumed the primary caregiver. The improved paternity leave policy aims to benefit parents across Bouygues’ workforce, regardless of their gender.

In a statement, the company said it strives for an inclusive workplace and an environment which helps its workforce foster stronger parent-child bonding and effectively balance their work with raising a family.

Martin Schultz, HR director at Bouygues UK, added: “We believe our enhanced paternity leave policy will hugely benefit new fathers and contribute to building a more inclusive workplace culture where parents are supported to achieve a healthier work-life balance.”
