Proposal for building regs Part Z launched

A group of more than 150 organisations in the UK building industry, including the Chartered Institute of Building, has put forward a plan for a new element for the building regulations, called Part Z, according to Construction Management. This would incorporate requirements for the assessment of whole life carbon emissions for all major building projects.

UK BIM Alliance annual survey

The UK BIM Alliance has launched its annual survey in order to continue to measure the understanding and adoption of information management using BIM across the UK built environment.

Robot plans floors three times faster

Belgian contractor Besix is using an autonomous robot to trace floor plans in the 250-metre-tall Mohammed VI Tower under construction in Morocco, according to Global Construction Review. The BIMPrinter topographic robot traces the exact outlines of partition walls with complex geometry straight onto floor slabs, guided by the digital model of the building.
