Tilbury Douglas has completed construction of the flagship Greater Manchester Institute of Technology (GMIoT) building in Salford.
The GMIoT building is the latest project to be delivered under the University of Salford’s Campus Connectivity Plan (CCP).
The CCP involves an ambitious redevelopment of the university’s research, teaching and public spaces, with a commitment that all buildings will be net-zero carbon by 2038.
The new building will be a central hub for the further education colleges that are working with the University of Salford.
Students will use the facility for technical education and training in sectors including construction, engineering, computing, creative media, business and health sciences.
The building, designed by jm architects, features a green roof with photovoltaic panels to generate renewable energy, alongside a green living wall supported by rainwater harvesting.
Martin Horne, regional director for the north west at Tilbury Douglas, said: “We are incredibly proud to have partnered with the University of Salford on the delivery of the new GMIoT building.
“This high-quality, sustainable facility will help to equip students across Greater Manchester with the skills and confidence needed to access meaningful careers, including in construction.”
