Site canteens can re-open, says CLC

Construction site canteens that were closed or offered a restricted service may now re-open under revised Site Operating Procedures published by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

The “minimal” changes take account of the easing of lockdown measures in England from 4 July, with a new “one metre plus” social distancing guideline replacing the two metre rule. Under the new guidelines, workers must stay two metres apart, or one metre with risk mitigation where two metres is not viable.

Other changes in version 5 of the CLC’s Site Operating Procedures include permission for drivers to have access to site welfare facilities, and advice that entry systems are cleaned regularly, rather than between each use.
