A former Grade II-listed Victorian waterworks facility in west London is to be converted to a residential and office scheme.
Client Waterfall Hampton Investment has received planning consent for the mixed-use scheme in Hampton, designed by LOM architecture and design.
The project will deliver 36 new homes, ranging from one- to four-bedroom units, alongside 306 sq m of flexible workspace.
The consent follows seven years of design development, consultation and negotiation to overcome the challenges of restoring and adapting historic infrastructure for contemporary use.
The original pumping houses were built in the 1850s, but the site has stood empty for years, deteriorating and at risk of permanent loss.
The team working on the scheme with LOM includes planning consultant Rapleys and civil, MEP and structural engineer Hydrock.
Project lead and LOM director Richard Hutchinson said: “Many believed the site was too complex to bring back into meaningful use, but through perseverance, collaboration and creative design, we’ve secured a permission that can both protect its heritage and allow it to thrive once more.”
