Fire safety remediation works at nine residential tower blocks in Salford have been completed.

The scheme has delivered replacement cladding, insulation and fire compartmentation alongside new fire alarm systems and sprinklers. Aluminium composite material (ACM) cladding on the buildings was identified in the nine blocks during the national testing programme undertaken in 2017.

The project team included Pick Everard as lead designer and principal designer (CDM) and Quaysquare Consult as principal contractor for client Pendleton Together Operating Ltd (PTOL), part of the Together Housing Group, plus specialists Buro Happold and Wintech.

Pick Everard project director Simon Senior said: “This has been a complex scheme, involving nine unique residential blocks, two of which were 22-storeys, that each have their own history and challenges following previous alterations. The project fell within the transition period for implementing the Building Safety Act and we ensured all services aligned and complied with the evolving legislation.”

PTOL chair Tom Miskell said: “We recognise the impact these essential works have had on residents and would like to thank them for their patience throughout the programme.

“The completion of the vital upgrades marks an important step forward, providing residents with safer, more energy-efficient homes and greater peace of mind for the future.”
