Fitout contractor ISG is to temporarily close any of its sites which cannot meet an “enhanced risk profile test”, amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The company operates sites not just in the UK, but in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and the firm’s CEO Paul Cossell said that government advice in the various different countries “continues to shift”.
In addition to the office market and public sector, it also works in the hard-hit retail and hospitality and leisure sectors.
Cossell said that by close of play today, the company will:
- suspend activity across sites which cannot meet an enhanced risk profile test
- inform affected sites of its decision and arrange for temporary site closure where required
- work on plans to ensure that suspended sites have an action plan to be able to safely re-open
- contact clients to inform them of its decision
- work with the supply chain to ensure it has clarity on its position and the effect it has on work and initiate planning for future re-opening
He added: “We must act now and do so decisively to protect the welfare of people across the industry. I believe that by taking this decisive action we will keep our people, customers, supply chain and the general public safe. Nothing is more important.”
