CIOB chief executive Chris Blythe has described the creation of the Chartered Construction Manager designation as “probably the best thing the institute has done for the industry”.
In the video below, Blythe discusses the impact of the new description with CIOB president Peter Jacobs, describing how the groundwork for the new option began with an initiative four years ago by former presidents John Bale and Li Shirong to define construction management.
After four years of work, he says, “we’ve established construction management as a distinctive profession, as opposed to a construction technique or a process”.
