Knauf has launched an updated version of its High-Rise Multi-Occupancy (HRMO) Design Guide, reinforcing its position as a go-to resource for specifiers navigating the demands of compliant high-rise design and Gateway 2 approvals.

Building on strong industry uptake of the original, the enhanced guide brings together the technical guidance, product data and digital tools needed to support fire safety, acoustics and energy efficiency across all six sides of an HRMO.

A standout feature remains its integrated floorplans, which now link directly to NBS, enabling a faster and more streamlined route from concept design through to specification. The guide includes layouts for high-rise apartments, hotels and core stairwell configurations, helping project teams improve both speed and accuracy in early-stage planning.

Knauf’s updated HRMO Design Guide enables users to:

  • Design and specify for fire safety, acoustics and energy efficiency across high-rise multi-occupancy buildings;
  • Navigate Gateway 2 requirements using clear, accessible technical evidence;
  • Accelerate specification using floorplans linked directly to NBS;
  • Specify complete systems for all six sides of an HRMO, including solutions for exteriors, interiors, flooring and ceilings;
  • Access technical expertise and assurances from one manufacturer;
  • Access product information supported by current fire test data;
  • Access layouts tailored to apartments, hotels and stair core configurations.

The guide consolidates Knauf’s high-rise system offering, including ThroughWall, AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor and Soffit systems, Isolator and Performer systems, Resilient Bar solutions, Shaftwall and ‘I’ Stud lining systems, as well as Corridor 400, Hugo – Flooring Panel and MF Ceiling systems.

More comprehensive and practical

Mark Enderby, specification market manager at Knauf UK & Ireland, said:
“Feedback from the industry showed the original guide was extremely well received, particularly the floorplans and direct links to NBS. This updated version builds on that success, offering a more comprehensive and practical resource for designing compliant high-rise buildings and navigating Gateway 2 with greater speed and confidence.”

He added: “By bringing together floorplans, specification tools and the latest technical and fire test data, we’re enabling project teams to make faster, more informed decisions at every stage.”

The HRMO Design Guide aims to support project teams in meeting the complex technical and regulatory requirements of HRMO developments, while simplifying access to the systems, data and documentation needed to specify with confidence.
