The construction industry continues to face economic pressure, supply chain challenges and increasing performance and sustainability expectations. Against this backdrop, contractors are placing greater importance on working with partners that can provide stability, technical expertise and confidence in project delivery.
Recent investments by Bauder, including a new distribution centre at Gateway 14 and the refurbishment of its UK headquarters in Ipswich, demonstrate the company’s commitment to enhancing capabilities and creating facilities fit for the future.
Nationwide distribution capability to meet growing demand
With the key handover ceremony last July, Bauder’s new 44,000 sq ft distribution centre at Gateway 14 became the largest distribution hub within the company’s network, strengthening national logistics capability and supporting increased demand across the country.

Sustainability was embedded into the project from the outset. Designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent standard, the building incorporates measures to minimise environmental impact and support efficient operation:
- EPC A-rated building performance;
- Solar PV supporting renewable energy generation;
- Smart energy management systems and LED lighting;
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure;
- Rainwater harvesting systems;
- Integrated walking and cycling routes;
- Biodiverse landscaping and swift nesting boxes supporting local wildlife and staff wellbeing.
Sustainable transformation of UK headquarters
After more than 45 years in Ipswich, Bauder has completed a major refurbishment of its UK headquarters, modernising and extending the site while improving building performance.

Explaining the motivation behind the investment, Bauder’s UK joint-managing directors, Yvonne Higgins and John Llewellyn, said: “Our refurbished UK headquarters, together with our new distribution centre at Gateway 14, represent significant investments in Bauder’s future and reflect our commitment to combining business growth with environmental responsibility across the roofing sector of the construction industry.”
Key features include:
- A 335-panel lightweight solar PV installation generating an anticipated 121,517kWh annually and reducing carbon emissions by more than 25 tonnes of CO₂ per year;
- BauderECO FF PIR insulation manufactured from 80% renewable raw materials;
- A mechanically fastened single-ply roofing system that supports circularity through reuse and end-of-life recycling;
- Improved thermal performance through new roofing, insulation, glazing and curtain walling;
- Windcatcher ventilation systems designed to support energy efficiency;
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure;
- Upgraded mechanical and electrical services, including enhanced fire, security and back-up power systems.
Committed to delivering value for contractors
For contractors, the significance of these investments extends beyond the buildings themselves.
Supply chain resilience
The Gateway 14 distribution centre strengthens logistics capability and product availability, helping support continuity of supply, programme certainty and reduced project risk.
Technical support and risk management
The refurbishment of Bauder’s headquarters supports the continued growth of its specification and technical support functions. Early engagement and technical guidance can help contractors:
- Manage design risk
- Improve buildability
- Coordinate project stakeholders
- Support efficient project delivery
Demonstrating sustainability in practice
Both facilities demonstrate how operational carbon reduction, circularity and building performance objectives can be incorporated into refurbishment and new-build schemes.
Confidence through long-term commitment
Trust is built through consistent delivery, technical expertise and long-term investment. Continued investment in its people, infrastructure and services helps Bauder continue to strengthen the foundations of successful contractor partnerships.
