JJ Rhatigan has won the role of main contractor on developer Strawberry Star’s £280m Lu2on housing scheme, which will see the construction of 850 homes on the former Vauxhall Motors factory in Luton.
Lu2on involves the construction of 850 suites, one- and two-bedroom apartments and private roof gardens. A total of 400 apartments will be built under phase one at the 6.9 acre site, due for completion in Q2 2021. Site preparation works are now underway.
Irish-based contractor JJ Rhatigan specialises in delivering residential led mixed-use developments. The company is currently on site with 21 projects with a combined value of over £800m across Ireland and London.
Recent projects include the Britannia Point tower in Colliers Wood, the Callis Yard development in Woolwich and Carolyn House in Croydon, as well as several schemes in Ireland including Athlone Town Centre, Charlemont Square Regeneration, Heuston South Quarter, The Grange and Landsdowne Place projects in Dublin.
