The Grade II-listed Victorian-era Crystal Palace Subway in South London has reopened following a lengthy renovation.
Heritage contractor DBR delivered the complex restoration project, working with Bromley Council and heritage groups.
The work included a new roof over the east courtyard and extensive repairs to the walls, floor, steps and entrances.
The Crystal Palace Subway dates from 1865, and provided an underground connection from the old High Level station to the Crystal Palace.
The station closed shortly after, in the 1950s, and the subway remained largely closed to the public until DBR’s refurbishment project.
The Crystal Palace was lost to fire in 1936.
