L&Q has launched its 2025 apprenticeship programme, offering placements for 20 aspiring tradespeople – with more positions expected to open later this year.

The housing association is investing in future talent by expanding its apprenticeship and graduate programme across the organisation.

This year, the intake will double in size, with 20 new roles in plumbing, joinery, roofing, and heating installation. Successful candidates will join L&Q’s teams in Greater London and Greater Manchester.

The apprenticeships offer participants the opportunity to earn while they learn, combining paid hands-on experience with fully funded qualifications.

Apprentices will receive on-the-job training, structured development programmes, a salary, and access to a range of employee benefits.

David Lewis, executive director of property services at L&Q, said: “Apprenticeships are central to how we future proof our workforce. With more than a third of UK tradespeople aged over 50, the skills gap poses a real threat to our ability to build and maintain homes.

“We’ve made a long-term commitment to investing in the quality and safety of residents’ homes – and that means creating real, lasting career opportunities.

“If you’re considering applying, my advice is simple: go for it. You’ll gain hands-on experience, learn from skilled professionals, and join a team that truly supports your growth.”

Applications for Greater Manchester roles are open, with positions in Greater London available from 27 May. Successful candidates will start in August.
