‘Make Your Mark’ initiative seeks to attract the best-in-class employees for award-winning company.

Construction, refurbishment and fit-out company Gilbert-Ash has launched a new campaign celebrating the achievements of its people as it seeks to attract the industry’s best talent and cement its reputation for delivering standout projects.

The launch of ‘Make Your Mark’ follows the company’s completion of the biggest refurbishment in the history of the National Portrait Gallery and the refurbishment of the Royal College of Music.

‘Make Your Mark’ is aimed at celebrating Gilbert-Ash’s people, as well as helping to attract the best talent working in the industry.

Ray Hutchinson: “We want to make Gilbert-Ash an employer of choice.”

The company, which works across 44 different countries in sectors including workplace/office, hotels & leisure, arts and culture, education, residential, student accommodation and healthcare.

Gilbert-Ash managing director, Ray Hutchinson, said: “We want to continue to develop as a company, making Gilbert-Ash an employer of choice, and of course, to continue to work on amazing projects.

“Our people can say their work can be viewed in the National Portrait Gallery or they have, quite literally, created the stage for world-class musicians to deliver virtuoso performances. When you work for Gilbert-Ash you work on projects which make a difference.

“We are inviting the best people to join us to ‘Make Your Mark’ on our projects, people and the planet.”

Opportunities on iconic projects

One of those already making their mark is contracts manager Aaron Coffey, who says working with the award-winning company has provided numerous opportunities to deliver iconic projects.

He said: “I worked on the National Portrait Gallery for Gilbert-Ash and, while it is certainly an iconic building, it is only one of my top 10 projects.

The Cambridge Central Mosque, which Gilbert-Ash worked on, was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2021

“Some of the buildings I have worked on have been here long before I was born and will be here long after I have gone.

“I’m immensely proud to have been involved in projects at buildings which so many people travel through and enjoy every day.”

Aparna Chavan: “I’d be delighted to see my children join me here in the future.”

Gilbert Ash project planner Aparna Chavan added: “I am amazed by the projects we work on, they make a difference and it is great to be a part of that.

“We work with an ‘as one’ ethos that fosters a sense of collaboration and you are always made to feel like your opinion matters.

“I would happily tell my children this is a company they should work for and would be delighted to see them join me here in the future.”

Gilbert-Ash’s projects have been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Stirling Prize four times: the Lyric Theatre in 2012, the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre in 2013 and, more recently, in 2021 for Cambridge Central Mosque. The Everyman Theatre in Liverpool won the coveted award in 2014.
