
A German contractor has used 3D printing for the walls of its new headquarters building, which were produced in under five days.
Matthäi Schlüsselfertigbau, a subsidiary of the German construction giant Matthäi, worked with specialist firm PERI 3D Construction on the innovative element of its 364 sq m two-storey headquarters in Selsingen, Lower Saxony, using a Cobod BOD2 printer.
Walls were printed using Holcim’s TectorPrint cementitious material in 105 hours, with the building’s form produced directly from a digital model without the formwork required for traditional construction.
The foundation, base slab, floors and roof were built using conventional methods. The project team included architect Schulenburg and planning firm Mense-Korte.

Following the completion of the building this summer, Matthäi has established its own construction 3D printing division in partnership with PERI 3D Construction.
