The first of Hinkley Point C’s eight generators has been delivered safely to the construction site arriving by sea, river and road.
At 25m long and weighing 520 tonnes, the steam generators will take heat from the nuclear reactors to create steam to power the world’s largest turbines.
Hinkley Point C is the first new nuclear reactor for a British power station in more than 30 years. It is expected to start operating in June 2027, a year later than planned.
Estimates put the total cost of the plant at £25bn-£26bn.
