Firethorn has announced safety sign-off of its purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Stratford, east London.
It means the development has been granted Gateway 2 approval, and full-scale construction can now proceed.
The approval confirms Firethorn’s design and control arrangements meet the safety requirements set out in the Building Safety Act, enforced by the Building Safety Regulator.
Delivered by Mcleer & Rushe, the 284-bed development will include 35% affordable student accommodation.
McLeer & Rushe senior director, Mark Diamond, commented: “Our focus remains on maintaining the highest standards of building safety, quality and sustainability as works commence on site, delivering safe, modern student accommodation in east London.”
The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2028/29 academic term and forms part of a wider PBSA portfolio including developments in nearby Hackney Wick and Leith Walk in Edinburgh.
