  1. I suppose the immediate question is why do you have BIM and Non-BIM projects. Presumably, BIM should be standard on all projects, given its proposed advantages?
This implies that BIM is a non-transferable process that cannot be easily adopted on projects that are not specifically BIM contracts. In my opinion, the principles of BIM should be adopted whether or not external contractors are signed up to it…perhaps BIM procedures need to be more flexible.
I have personally developed processes where the contract was a mix of 2d (architecture) and 3d (MEP) where the model and information share was coordinated in a fashion suitable for future client FM.

  2. Hi Hugh. It seems to me that, given BIM is only recently starting to be adopted in building projects, we are bound to have a mix in BIM and non-BIM projects, having come from a place where we solely had non-BIM projects.
Its financial and time saving advantages are evident, especially from this article, so perhaps we are experiencing the shift towards BIM being standard across all projects in the future?
