Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is looking to move into a new purpose-built stadium with “club-leading standards of environmental sustainability”.

The club confirmed it is “exploring opportunities” for a relocation to a bigger site in South Gloucestershire “to ensure [its] competitiveness and long-term sustainability”.

It added that continuing growth is putting a strain on the infrastructure and facilities of the current ground in Nevil Road, in the Horfield area of Bristol.

After several months of consultation with South Gloucestershire Council, the preferred new location is in South Gloucestershire, close to the M4 near Bristol.

The new stadium would have a larger seated capacity and green credentials, including low-carbon facilities.

Gloucestershire Cricket will consult with members and local residents in the coming months on the proposals.
