Don Ward has stepped down from his role in charge of Constructing Excellence, with Alison Nicholl taking over the role as head of the organisation.
Nicholl joined Constructing Excellence in 2016 and has an extensive background in knowledge transfer and innovation in the built environment including programme managing the Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network.
Ward, a champion of collaborative working, led the transition of Constructing Excellence from a government-funded body to a membership organisation. He will continue to work for Constructing Excellence, developing franchises in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Constructing Excellence’s national team in the UK based at BRE will report into Dr Martin Ganley.
Ganley represents BRE on the Construction Innovation Hub board and provides governance of the BRE delivery programme. He will join the Constructing Excellence Board of Management and ensure effective alignment between the Construction Innovation Hub and Constructing Excellence.
Don Ward said: “I would like to acknowledge the great support and work of BRE, the chairs and board members of Constructing Excellence past and present, and all the members and other stakeholders in the Constructing Excellence movement in progressing the mission of CE. I am pleased to be handing over to Alison and look forward to playing a new role overseas to support the further development of a movement which has been so close to my heart for so many years.”
The chairs of Constructing Excellence Phil Wilbraham, David Whysall and Mark Farmer said: “We thank Don Ward for 18 years of leadership and service to the Constructing Excellence movement. Alison has been closely involved since our merger with BRE in 2016, and her leadership is already bearing fruit. Closer alignment with the Construction Innovation Hub provides an excellent platform to strengthen and grow the movement, at the very centre of this unprecedented opportunity to deliver positive and lasting change in the sector.”
