Attempts to introduce Building Information Modelling in public sector projects suffered a fresh blow after it emerged the government will not respond to a report on its effectiveness until June.
An independent report into the effectiveness of BIM on a number of pilot projects was submitted to the Construction Clients’ Group in March and the government was expected to produce its response that same month.
But Paul Morrell, the chief construction advisor, has told Building Magazine that the government response will not be released until June.
It is understood that the delay is partly due to local government elections in May.
