The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has upgraded the My CSCS app, adding an AI-driven application process and additional features designed to support compliance with the Building Safety Act.

The upgrade enables users to renew and apply for CSCS cards in-app, access their digital card for site access and generate a CV-style resume to highlight an individual’s skills and training records.

CSCS said the card application process has been completely re-engineered to make applying for, or renewing, a card quicker and easier. Workers can now upload a copy or photo of their qualification directly to the app and it will recommend the appropriate card, based on their occupation and qualification. This supports the ethos of individuals holding the correct card for the job they do on site, CSCS said.

The new functionality forms part of the broader digital skills passport initiative – a portable record of qualifications and training that moves with workers across sites and roles. This is integrated with CSCS Smart Check, which verifies cards and credentials in real-time, ensuring the right people with the right skills are on site to enhance compliance and safety.

Sean Kearns, CSCS Group chief executive, said: “We continue to align our technology to support the evolving needs of the construction industry. Our enhanced app reflects this ambition.

“With CSCS Smart Check as the border control element, the digital skills passport infrastructure is designed to help industry meet its Building Safety Act obligations and keep sites safe and legally compliant.”
