Royal Institution’s retrofit

The Grade I-listed Georgian building of the Royal Institution (RI) is on track to achieve a 42% reduction in carbon emissions, following a retrofit project carried out by heritage contractor Coniston. The work, including the installation of air-source heat pumps, moved the building from a commercial EPC D rating to a B.
Hinkley reactor domes formwork

Construction of the reactor domes at Hinkley Point C’s is being supported by temporary works specialist Peri. The dome structures curve in multiple directions and required the development of bespoke formwork, with 199 bespoke panels fabricated specifically for the temporary works structure, which has to operate 45m above ground level.
BAM drops in on Liverpool Street

As part of the £100m refurbishment of Broadgate Tower, BAM delivered a complex helicopter lift operation to install 15 air source heat pumps across multiple levels of the building. The lift involved detailed planning and coordinate with client British Land and lifting partner Radius.
One love in London

Aroland Holdings will appoint a main contractor this year for the One London office tower, which is set to be the tallest in the City of London. Reaching 309.6m, it will also share the title of the UK’s tallest building with the Shard in Southwark.
Crinkle cut Serpentine Pavilion

For the 13th consecutive year, Aecom has helped to deliver the Serpentine Pavilion architectural programme in London’s Kensington Gardens. The consultant used digital modelling to bring Mexican architect LANZA Atelier’s design to life. Inspired by crinkle-crankle walls in Suffolk, it features a single-brick-wide wall whose form reflects the figure of a serpent.
Man City’s museum piece

Manchester City Football Club has unveiled the latest planned addition to its Etihad Campus. An immersive museum experience will open later this year, allowing visitors to relive nostalgic environments from the club’s history. It has been conceived by specialist museum designers Ralph Appelbaum Associates.
