CITB reveals plans for levy consultation

It will also seek views on the skills and training outcomes it has delivered for the industry over the past three years via the current levy.  

The feedback will be collated for the Levy Strategy Committee – an independent group of industry representatives and external specialists – which will deliver recommendations to the CITB board before it submits the final levy proposals to the government.

As the industrial training board responsible for promoting vocational training in the construction industry, CITB is empowered to impose a levy on employers or contractors in the industry to fund its operations.

These include making grants to employers or contractors whose training courses are approved by CITB.

The levy applies to all employers engaged wholly or mainly in construction industry activities.
