New paper outlines how diversity and inclusion is achievable for all construction companies, regardless of size
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has published a new paper on the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the built environment.
The paper features the work of five organisations that are signatories of CIOB’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter – Kier, DoBuild, Burmor Construction, BBVS, and Graham.
The five case studies focus on a specific initiative that each organisation has been working on, providing examples of diversity and inclusion work in different contexts.
Elena Dove-Edwin, EDI project officer at CIOB, said: “We want this paper to serve as inspiration for organisations who are unsure how to adapt best practice to suit their work environment, as we believe that implementing [diversity and inclusion] is achievable for all organisations.”
By signing CIOB’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter, companies agree to uphold five key commitments: show leadership, create a plan, shape the culture, be transparent, and be accountable.
The commitments aim to help provide a foundation for an effective and meaningful diversity and inclusion strategy.
