CIOB member Stuart Hardie has been appointed managing director of Kent-based contractor Baxall Construction. He succeeds Malcolm Clarke, who is stepping down after more than 35 years in the role.
Hardie, previously contracts director, joined Baxall in 2022 after holding senior positions with tier-one contractors. He took over on 1 June as part of a planned succession strategy, with Clarke remaining with the business as chairman.
The £50m turnover contractor said the leadership transition will ensure continuity for clients, employees and supply chain partners.
Commenting on his appointment, Hardie said he was looking forward to building on the foundations established by Clarke and supporting the firm’s continued growth while maintaining its standards and values.
Clarke has led Baxall’s development from a family-run business into a regional contractor delivering projects across London and the south-east, including schools, heritage refurbishments and decarbonisation schemes.
