Three construction students have been recognised for their achievements at the CIOB Maidstone Hub Outstanding Student Awards.

The awards celebrate students demonstrating commitment and potential as they begin their careers in the built environment.

Nassim Rakik, from London and South East Colleges, received an award after completing his HND in Quantity Surveying. Rakik is now looking to build practical experience in the sector while completing a top-up year to further his studies.

“I feel very honoured and grateful to have received the CIOB Maidstone Hub Outstanding Student Award,” he said. “It means a lot to be recognised by both my lecturers and the CIOB, and it has definitely given me extra motivation to continue developing my knowledge and career in the construction industry.”

Two students from MidKent College were also recognised.

Sam Hearn, an apprentice Quantity Surveying Technician with VVB Engineering, said: “I am incredibly grateful to earn this award and am honoured my hard work is recognised by CIOB and my peers.”

Riley Evans, an apprentice Quantity Surveyor with Morgan Sindall Construction, said the award provided meaningful recognition of his commitment to the industry.

“Receiving the CIOB Outstanding Student Award is a meaningful recognition of my hard work and commitment to the industry,” he said. “It strengthens the foundations for my career and reflects my ambition within the built environment.”

The awards highlight the contribution of colleges, employers and professional bodies in supporting the next generation of construction professionals as they move from education into the industry.
