The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is to host a day-long online conference exploring how the built environment can become more inclusive, accessible and welcoming.
A Day of EDI with CIOB, taking place on 18 November, will bring together industry leaders, strategists, authors and practitioners to examine how organisations can move beyond EDI policies and embed meaningful change in their workplaces.
CIOB chief executive Dr Victoria Hills will open the event, which will include sessions on the business case for EDI, tackling skills shortages and under-representation, and improving employee retention.
The programme will also feature a debate asking whether it is responsible to encourage more women into the built environment, an update on the B.E. Inclusive memorandum of understanding, and a panel examining how inclusion differs across cultural and working environments.
The final session, Built for Everyone, will focus on practical actions employers can take to embed EDI across different working environments, including site-based roles, offices and hybrid teams.
The event is free to CIOB members, non-members and students and will run from 8.30am to 4.45pm.
