The Chartered Institute of Building’s annual photography competition is now open for submissions.

The Art of Building is the world’s largest contest for built environment photography.

Winners in each category will receive a £1,500 cash prize and see their artwork showcased at construction sites worldwide.

A panel of judges will shortlist the top submissions and members of the public will then be able to vote for the Public’s Choice award.

Judges will also select an entry for the Judges’ Choice winner.

Saul Townsend, head of communications at CIOB, said: “Buildings are much more than just structures which we use, they are works of art which shape the landscape of our cities and communities. They speak about our culture and the people using them.

“As judges, we’re looking forward to being shown something new and we encourage anyone who plans to enter this year’s contest to express themselves through their photography.”

Last year’s winners

The winner of last year’s Public Choice award was Bangladesh’s Azim Khan Ronnie, who submitted a stunning image of the National Mosque of Bangladesh.

Belgium’s Alain Schroeder’s image titled Bricks – also captured in Bangladesh – scooped the Judges’ Choice accolade.

The Art of Building competition is free and open to anyone over 18. The deadline to submit entries is 25 November 2024. The two winning entries will be announced on 22 January 2025. For more information visit The Art of Building website.
