Housebuilder Barratt has set aside another £30m to tackle the cost of reviewing and fixing cladding and external wall systems on buildings it has constructed.
The extra money means that Barratt’s total cladding bill for this financial year has risen to £81m, although it said estimates may have to be updated further in light of more changes in government legislation and regulation.
Barratt announced the news in a trading update issued on 14 July. It said that all of the buildings, including the cladding and external wall systems used, were signed off by approved inspectors as compliant with the relevant Building Regulations at the time of construction.
It added: “Alongside evolving government advice on fire safety for multi-storey buildings, we are working with building owners, management companies and expert engineers on assessments of buildings we have constructed and the solutions needed to support leaseholders and residents at those buildings.”
