3D-printed concrete ‘lifestyle pods’ launched

Graphene-enhanced cement producer Versarien has launched a 3D-printed ‘lifestyle’ pod called Lunar.

Following the Lunar’s launch, Versarien is taking £250 deposits for 50 builds in 2022. The total cost of a pod for delivery will be £29,950.

The pods are made with Versarien’s graphene-enhanced Cementene and take 180 minutes to build. The company said Lunar would show the level of detail, flexibility an precision that 3D concrete printing can now achieve.

The pods have been designed to function as an office, studio, gym or leisure room. They will incorporate full-height glazed doors and windows.

Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, said: “This launch represents the first application of a technology that has the potential to change the way the world views construction and property renovation.

“Our 3D-printed concrete can build pods for those suffering hardship, whilst creating a circular economy for houses, giving individuals in more developed countries the opportunity to chop and change and ‘lift and shift’ their homes.”
