Westminster City Council has appointed Willmott Dixon to refurbish the 1930s Grade II-listed Seymour Centre in Marylebone, central London.
The £36m project comprises the restoration of the three-storey building and refurbishment of a swimming pool. It also includes building a new sports hall, an open-plan gym, a coffee shop and a permanent home for the Marylebone Library over two floors.
The upgrade to the five-court sports hall will include new flooring to make it more accessible for wheelchair users. Pool accessibility will be improved with the installation of a pool pod.
The project was procured through the SCF public sector construction framework and includes the appointment of Make as the architect and Hadron Consulting as project manager.

“We’ll be deploying our specific heritage property restoration skills to rejuvenate the centre as a place serving the community for many generations to come, as well as helping to meet the council’s commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2030 with improvements to heating, temperature and ventilation in the refurbished centre that will reduce carbon emissions.”
The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
