Work on the Thames Tideway Tunnel is progressing towards the start of the tunnelling, with the first tunnel shaft completed at Kirtling Street near Battersea Power Station.
Other key milestones in the last two months have included the start of assembly of the first Tunnel Boring Machine, Rachel, at the Carnwath Road site in Fulham.
Work is progressing on building cofferdams at Victoria Street Embankment and King Edward Memorial Park in Tower Hamlets.
As well as completing the Kirtling Street tunnel shaft, work on the tunnel shaft at the Tideway’s Greenwich site is also underway.
The tunnelling is due to start later this year.
The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a 25km “super sewer” tunnel being constructed to tackle the problem of sewage pollution in the River Thames.

This is what construction is all about, great people who make it all happen.
I wish the news people could report on this, would be a pleasant break from the Carillion gloom.
Well done to all.
