Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station, constructed by Laing O’Rourke, has become the third station on the project to be handed over to Transport for London.
The station will now be integrated with the operational network, ahead of the opening of the Elizabeth Line.
The station is the second Elizabeth Line station to be transferred to London Underground and the third to TfL’s network, following Farringdon and Custom House.
Tottenham Court Road will now be prepared for trial operations, starting later this year.
The Elizabeth Line is expected to open to passengers in the first half of 2022.
Construction on Crossrail, which will run across the capital from east to west, began in 2009 on the central section. It was originally due to open in December 2018 and its budget has grown from an initial £14.8bn to £18.7bn as of August 2020.

I couldn’t see any travellators or moving walkways. Are these to be reto fitted? That’s a long way to walk for some people.
Video seems to show a number of extremely long corridors – How long are each one?
Also, if as long as they look, an airport service provider would have at least installed travellators!
