Winvic has released drone footage showing the progress made at the East Midlands Gateway site where it is delivering a major earthworks and infrastructure scheme, which will include a rail freight terminal, road links and a distribution park.
The contractor was appointed by Segro for the project, which will feature over 6 million sq ft of distribution space in total, near East Midlands Airport.
The work has involved some 6 million cu m of plateau, screening and topsoiling earthworks and a 2-metre rise in the level of a newly laid section of the A453. Earthworks have been cut up to 25m below the existing ground level for the rail freight terminal, with 105,000 cu m of earth moved in any one week at the peak of the programme.
The project is due for completion in December 2019.
