Two upcoming events are set to tackle the issues around mental health in construction.
“Taking Care of People, Taking Care of Business” is a CPD event hosted by Novus Manchester & Liverpool exploring the stigma and taboo around suicide and mental health.
Andrea Newton of ABD Training will discuss thriving not just surviving, self care and organisational wellbeing.
Sponsored by Wates it will be held at the University of Salford on 23 November at 6.40pm.
Down south in Fareham, Hampshire, “Mental Health in Construction” is a free seminar also taking an in-depth look at mental health within the construction industry.
Expert speaker, Emily Garnett, from Morgan Sindall Construction, will focus on three objectives to demonstrate what mental health means and how it is relevant in today’s industry: legislation, how to manage wellbeing in the workplace, and self-awareness to maintain good personal mental health.
Stephen Haynes, head of programme for Mates in Mind, will present a framework to support construction companies in improving mental health and wellbeing. He will talk about how construction companies are addressing mental health, with an overview of the Mates in Mind programme.
This takes place on 15 November.
