A construction worker who was trapped after a trench collapse at a building site in Harrogate has been rescued after more than six hours.
Emergency services were called to the site on Rossett Green Lane just before 9am on Friday morning (6 April).
The worker has reportedly been trapped under clay and tarmac from the waist down following the collapse of the trench.
Fire crews from Harrogate, Tadcaster and Knaresborough were called to the scene, along with specialist teams from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance teams.
Gas and electricity supplies to the area had to be switched off as they worked to rescue the man, eventually freeing him at around 330pm that day.
He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary to be checked over but was said to be “unharmed” during the ordeal.
