Three bidders – BAM Ferrovial, Laing O’Rourke, and Mace Dragados – have been invited to bid for the £570m contract to build Birmingham Curzon Street station.
The station, which is designed to meet a ‘BREEAM excellent’ standard, will be net zero carbon in operation and will adopt an eco-friendly design and sustainable technologies, including capturing rainwater and sustainable power generation, with over 2,800m2 of solar panels located on platform canopies.
Contracts for the two-stage design and build contract are expected to be awarded next year.
