Two years after the 2015 CDM regulations were introduced Construction Manager has teamed up with Health and Safety at Work magazine to assess the impact.
As part of this study and also in collaboration with the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM) we are aiming to poll a cross section of the construction sector on the impact of the regulations. Have standards increased, decreased or stayed the same?
Taking a few minutes to answer our online survey will give us the answers to these questions and more. The results will be reported in both magazines.

I am a designer working in the small build section, small sites of under 10 houses & extensions & alterations. I have found that whilst most developers are incorporating the new legislation, the extension builders need more encouragement. I therefore try & make it as easy for them as I can
I like the way it can be adapted to organisations and projects rather than simply following an ACoP yet I still believe the CDMC brought an element of impartiality, for at present the PD and PC could even be the client thus Judge, Jury and Executioner all on the same payroll hardly a safety brake! With some not having the Skills, knowledge or experience they should have. Who would check! A CITB awareness course doesn’t provide this requirement. A PD in a practice also doesn’t get any cross practice learning as the CDMC did therefore runs the risk they start the wrong way and continue the wrong way. As for bringing in the domestic market absolute failure. Client Grandma, Designer, Man with a pencil, PC white van man……no chance of success.
