The Housing Ombudsman expects to double the number of investigations completed following another record year in complaints in social housing.

Although the new Social Housing Act does not specifically target the construction sector, it will indirectly impact it due to the enhanced compliance requirements that will be placed on providers of affordable housing, writes Ben Brooks.

New legislation aimed at improving social housing conditions will allow the Regulator of Social Housing to set standards on the competence and conduct “of all staff involved in the provision of housing management services”.
