Wates and Turner & Townsend have won a role to design and project manage the construction of a £450m car battery Gigafactory for Nissan and Sunderland City Council.

Planning permission has been granted for a 9GWh gigafactory that will be the UK’s first ‘at scale’ plant building batteries to support electric vehicle production.
