The government has accepted the CMA’s recommendations for a single mandatory consumer code for housebuilders and a New Homes Ombudsman Scheme to strengthen homeowners’ protections.

The CIC said the government’s new planning proposals fail to address the poor quality often seen in housing created under permitted development rights.
