A large-scale, fully electric energy centre able to heat thousands of homes without the need of having boilers has received planning permission.

Heat networks currently provide only a small proportion of the UK’s current heating needs but have huge potential to deliver much more, says Jonathan Monkcom.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has selected six towns and cities in England to develop England’s first heat network zones.
