Skanska UK has become the latest contractor to offer its workers a one-off payment to help with the cost of living.
Skanska said it would make one-off payments of £750 to support all those in the business earning £36,000 a year or less. That makes a total of around 1,300 people in its 3,300-strong workforce.
The company said the investment totalled £1m.
It is the latest in a series of contractors to unveil measures to help their employees with the cost of living. Earlier this month, Galliford Try announced it was making a £750 payment to around half of its workforce. And specialist contractor Keltbray is paying £1,000 to all of its workers on a basic salary of £50,000 or less.
Commenting on Skanska’s payment, Gregor Craig, Skanska UK president and CEO, said: “Skanska UK will be investing £1m in our people by providing this additional support. We recognise the challenges many households are facing due to the rising cost of living and is a real reflection of our values and purpose.”
