Another name and medium sized construction firm looks like being lost from the sector after Killby & Gayford went into administration this week.
The “majority” of historic contractor Killby & Gayford’s 255 staff have been made redundant, administrator BDO has confirmed.
The 150-year-old contractor, famous for working on scores of prestigious projects including Number 10 Downing Street, says Construction Enquirer.
BDO said it was in the process of seeking a “buyer or buyers” for the assets of the company. The £77m turnover firm has four offices in Billericay, Cambridge, Clapham and Leeds.
Danny Dartnaill, BDO business restructuring partner, said: “Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions significantly affected the business.
“The Joint Administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate losses and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of all creditors.”
According to credit firm Top Service, there have been 20 unsatisfied county court judgements worth £194,127 lodged against Killby & Gayford, reports Construction News.
The group of companies includes Killby & Gayford Group, Killby & Gayford Consolidation, Killby & Gayford Holdings and Killby & Gayford Ltd.
